Leading National Health Organizations Urge Congress & CMS to Improve Osteoporosis Care

Osteoporosis leads to millions of debilitating and costly fractures each year, yet most Medicare beneficiaries never receive the follow-up care proven to prevent future breaks. These three letters, submitted to Congress and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), call for urgent action to improve post-fracture care through a coordinated, evidence-based model known as Fracture Liaison Services (FLS). By implementing a dedicated Medicare payment mechanism, CMS can help reduce repeat fractures, improve patient outcomes, and save billions in healthcare costs.
