Give voice to what matters to patients living with osteoporosis
The National Bone Health Policy Institute was formed to raise awareness and drive policy that supports patients, and their caregivers, with osteoporosis. We are an advocacy movement to help create policies for healthy, strong bones and as a result, healthier aging. We are not interested in partisan politics.
The time is now for us to shape healthcare models that support healthy bones and the kind of healthy aging we all envision.

Our Mission
The Bone Health & Osteoporosis Foundation (BHOF) launched the National Bone Health Policy Institute, (NBHPI) representing the voice of the osteoporosis patient and will drive change needed to provide a clear path to diagnosis and treatment. NBHI harnesses the collective strength of leaders in bone health to raise awareness about the impact osteoporosis and broken bones have on patients’ lives and their families. It identifies and acts on issues related to osteoporosis, diagnosis and treatment, and focuses on quality, value, and reimbursement issues to catalyze positive change in bone health.
We are joined together in shared commitment to raise awareness and drive policy that advances these goals:
Greater awareness about the importance of bone health, its impact on patients and caregivers and taxpayers, and cost-effective steps that can be taken to optimize bone health, prevent fractures and improve health outcomes.
End the stigma and ageism associated with osteoporosis to assure that bone health gets the high priority and attention it deserves.
Everyone deserves access to affordable, high-quality, age-appropriate bone health screening.
Access to effective therapies to treat osteoporosis should be affordable and determined by each patient and their health professional.
Best practices in care management and coordination for those who have suffered bone fractures should be replicated and appropriately incentivized.
